Il y a la voie des joies terrestres,

et la voie des plaisirs terrestres.

Les deux attirent l'âme.

Qui suit la première arrive au bien;

qui suit la seconde n'en voit jamais la fin.

There is the path of earthly joy

and there is the path of earthly pleasure.

Both attract the soul.

Who follows the first comes to good;

who follows pleasure never reaches the end.
